I’m Sam Kaplan, a self-taught artist living in Tacoma. I studied philosophy at University of Puget Sound and opened Thyme & Space Design after graduating in 2020.
I’m inspired by my houseplants, offbeat silliness, and the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, and I enjoy creating art that doesn’t always have a deeper meaning. Instead, I offer my art as a space to engage or simply enjoy, with the intention of giving those who are looking for it a little extra time and space to breathe.
When I’m not making art, I like taking long walks on the beach, doing puzzles with my partner, and caring for our dozens of houseplants.
